Silver Salmon
Fishing
August
welcomes the Local favorite… two
massive Silver Salmon runs in August and September makes this fall season
fishery on the Kenai Peninsula a popular time. Whether fishing the Kenai,
Kasilof or Seward’s Resurrection Bay expect acrobatic jumps and reel
screaming runs. These mint bright beauties are on average 10-20 pounds
and when the fishing is hot expect limits in hours. Using light action
G-Loomis rods with Shimano reels filled with 17-pound test expect some
great fights. Silver Salmon fishing is simple and relaxing but the
catching action is fast and furious.
Kenai
River Silvers… local favorites
because of the relaxing fishing techniques and plentiful bounty. Our
method of fishing on the Kenai and Kasilof Rivers consist of anchoring the
boat and back bouncing salmon egg clusters or Kwikfish. The take down of
the rod is by far the most exhilarating part of the battle but don’t set
the hook to early, they are know to leave many anglers bait less and
scratching their heads in disbelief. Remember Pink Salmon on even years.
Seward
(Resurrection Bay) Silvers…
Everyone loves a double header, two fish on at once, but aboard our 28’
Madeira Offshore Cruises in Seward, Alaska imagine all six anglers aboard
with fish on, at the same time. This is not rare but a daily occurrence.
Mooching cut-plug herring as bait our captains put you in amazing huge
schools of Silvers. With a few cranks up and a fluttering rod tip, FISH
ON! This fishery begins the in August and is becoming a must do by all of
our clients. But the action does not stop. Ling Cod, Sea Bass, Red
Snapper and Halibut are also on the menu.
